Dr. Amar Safdar has spent over two decades treating patients with infectious diseases in New York City and Houston, Texas before relocating to El Paso, Texas in 2016. A love for the city and need for specialists of his expertise brings Dr. Safdar to El Paso. His current academic appointment at the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at El Paso as Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine is a further testament for his dedication in promoting highest standards in healthcare and exceptional, unparalleled medical education geared towards the young doctors in training.
Dr. Safdar has many awards and honors to his name. For nine consecutive years, Dr. Safdar was named “America’s Top Physician, Infectious Diseases” by the Consumers’ Research Council of America. And, most recently, he was named among “NY Top Docs” a division of USA Top Docs, “Best Doctors” The Best Doctors in America and “Top Doctors” by Castle Connolly.
Major U.S. and international committees have taken advantage of his knowledge and experience with invitations to hold a position on their boards, including M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, New York University School of Medicine, University of South Carolina School of Medicine, Infectious Disease Consortium New York, National Foundation for Infectious Diseases, International Immunocompromised Host Society, International Consultants Panel just to name a few. Dr. Safdar’s editorial contributions and lectures are too numerous to list, but respected among medical professionals around the globe.
